Reasons why it's better to be a non-driver

I have never been able to drive since supposedly the motor vehicle people don't issue a driver's license to blind folks; although from some of what I have seen I often wonder. Being a non-driver only becomes a problem when the mass transit system is not adequate, otherwise it's less of a hassle.

As someone who does not drive just think of all that money I don't have to spend on car payments, maintenance, insurance, and fuel. Three years ago before gas got so expensive I heard that on average Americans spent $8,400 each year on cars and that wasn't counting the car payment.

Granted it takes me a little longer to get somewhere on the bus but then again I can read a book while I wait in traffic, drivers can't. Nor do I have to fight the traffic, search for parking spaces that end up so far from the building that it would take $10 in cab fair to get to the front door, or spend hours before I go anywhere in the winter shoveling snow from the car and trying to warm it up and wasting fuel in to process.

As a non-driver there are days when I feel as if I am taking my life into my hands every time I go outside because some drivers don't seem to pay any attention to anyone around them.

All in all I'm not sure I would want to drive even if I could.
