This year's fashion must-have seems to be anything in patent leather. The shiny finish claims to be wearable day or night, depending on the piece. Now, my question is, how do you wear it without over-doing it?
Here are some tips I came across.
Keep it one item at a time, or keep the shiny proportioned per square inch - choose one item, either a trench coat, or shoes, but don't ever do more than one piece at a time. Shoes and handbags are ok, since there is not too much material, but if you are doing a trench, don't add on a pair of knee-high boots.
Coloring - bold colors are in right now, and definitely rock the colors but keep it weighted down and outstanding with the other pieces being a black or gray. It keeps the color showing but doesn't make you look like a clown. For evening wear, bright colors may not be as suitable, so greys are always a wonderful color. It's classic, refined, and brings out subtle design detailing a bit more than black since it is not as dark. AND, it's this season's color.
Cinch it - grab a belt in patent. It updates any look and is versatle in adding a splash of color and with the trend of tunics and over-sized tops, will look great with tights.
