"When rock legends sell out"

When a rock legend sells out, it means that they basically, kick their fans in the teeth, in exchange for the almighty currency! The fact that their fans put them where they are, seems to have nothing to with to do with them anymore!

Fans are loyal! They believe in their rock heroes! They believe in the words that they write and the music that they play! They identify with where their heroes are coming from and if ever their hero said, "Let's go to war!' They would follow them, unquestionably!

When a successful rock star or band sells out, they cash in all of their chips and head for the easy life; No more laborious gigs! No more late nights! And, no more promoting themselves! They have what they want, they have reached a point in their career, where they can call the shots and tell their managers, where to take a hike!

So what happens to their fans?

Well, the fans get really pissed off! They want to kill their legendary hero or heroes! After all, they bought the CD's and went to the concerts and spent all of their hard earned pocket money on something they thought, would give them a better perspective in their lives. When a rock legend sells out, it is the end!

The band, Green Day, is a classic example of a sell out band.

Green day, performed in clubs, primarily in their home State of California and they gathered an enormous following! They were devoted to their fans and their fans followed them to the ends of the earth! As the band members grew older and their music started to gain much recognition and popularity; They signed themselves to a major record label!

Green day's fan base felt cheated and a majority or them, wanted them dead! Never before has the rock industry seen such a reaction to a sell out! The true fact of the matter was; That Green Day band members were starting to settle down. Some were in serious relationships, some had married and some had children. Wouldn't you, sell out for that?
