Dan Rather should have been fired for his irresponsible actions as a newsman. Journalists are taught to always have at least 3 sources for a story of this importance. And this means credible sources. And as the Anchor and spokesman for CBS Rather bears responsibility for the inaccuracy of these Allegations.

In no way did CBS kowtow to pressure from the White House. The public found out how shoddy the investigation about these inflammatory issues. Rather fared well through most of the deluge. Many others who worked with him were fired outright. What about them?

Dan Rather should just take his medicine like a man and put this embarrassing episode behind him. The problem is being made much worse as he drags this irritating mess that should never have happened through the mud.

If he continues he makes a farce out of journalistic integrity. And this should enrage all other journalists and reporters out there who continue to work within the rules of responsible reportage.

In a position he had he should have made sure all the facts were in before he opened his mouth. What happened to him would have happened to any other anchor who had done anything similar.

I feel the outcome of his lawsuit will bring him embarrassment and shame when in fact he should bear his mistake with great humility.
