The joy of motherhood

Ahh! the joys of motherhood. One of the best things about being a mother is being able to look back at things that may have been mortifying when they happened and laugh. I am learning as a mother of a two-year old that this happens more and more each day.
The other day, I was sitting at the computer feeding my one month old when I realized that things were awfully quiet in the living room. Which any parent knows is a bad things when there is a two-year old in there.
Next thing I know, Max, the two-year old, is running up telling me his tummy hurts. In his hand he is holding a bottle of Anti-bacterial Lotion from Bath & Body Works. He has it all over his clothes and face. Upon further inspection I see that half of the bottle is gone. I asked him if he put it in his mouth and he promptly opens it for me to see a glob still in there.

While rinsing out his mouth, my mind is running a hundred miles an hour. What was it that I saw on the Nightly News the other day about kids and hand sanitizer? Wasn't it something about a child dying from eating it? So, it was off to the computer to get the number for poison control. Easy enough to find, but not to get through. My cell phone, which is the only phone we have, did not let the number to go through. It kept ringing busy and then disconnecting. At this point I am panicking as my son is standing there crying. I called my husband and had him try the number from his land line. It worked just fine. I hung up with him and tried again, but still no luck. I called my husband back and had him try a three way call from his cell, thinking maybe it was just my phone or the area I was in. No luck. I finally decided to call the doctor's office to see what they had to say. I was immediately put through to the nurse who told me to call 911.
Was she serious? I just wanted to talk to poison control and see what to do. But, out of options, I dialed 911. My luck being what it was, I got the 911 operator for the next town over. She had to patch me through to my town dispatch, but only after I had given her all of my information. Before I could ask to be put through to poison control (which they can do) I was told the the fire department was on its was. Yep, the fire trucks were coming.
By this time, Max was a happy camper. He knew that something big was happening. I was finally put through to poison control and told things were not life threatening and put on hold. While waiting
