From dating to marriage: Rules for success

Dating can be overwhelming if you go into dates looking for the person to turn into your life long partner. The best rule for success is to relax. When you go on any date, you need to look at the person as a potential friend. People who begin as friends and later get married make the best and most successful couples.

When you are asked on a date, relax. Have fun. It doesn't matter what you wear, how your makeup looks, or how long you spent on your hair if you aren't having any fun. It doesn't make sense to spend hours obsessing on these things to go on one date and it end up being a disaster because you are uptight and seem desperate. Desperation is one thing that the opposite sex cannot stand in each other. If you go into every date looking for it to turn into marriage, it will never happen. It almost goes along with the saying "a watched pot never boils".

Another rule for success is to go with your heart. You must really listen to what's right and what's wrong in a relationship. Tons of people whose marriages end in divorce admit that they had warning signs while they were dating that something didn't seem right. They had begun arguing while dating, or their partner had exhibited signs of anger or control. You must truly listen to your heart and get out of the relationship if it's not working. Marriage never makes things better, it makes things harder, so you must have a strong commitment to each other and to making things work before entering into a marriage.

It's possible that the very most important rule of dating and marriage is to be friends. You will have a far better marriage if you are truly friends. Beyond the arguments that will happen, trying to combine two lifestyles into one, bills, kids, and more, you must have a strong friendship to keep it together. There are days will you will hate to be around each other, but you know you love each other. There are times when you may question your very feelings for each other, but you will always have your friendship. Truly being friends is the best way to have a marriage.

So, the rules for success from dating to marriage includes to relax, not look desperate, listen to your heart, and be friends above anything else.
