One reason why the Bears will not make it to the playoffs....Quarterback Rex Grossman.
Grossman is by far the most inconsistent quarterback in the league. Yes, he did lead the Bears to the NFC championship and eventually to a loss in the superbowl. There are two Rex Grossman's the gunslinger that could not miss and has those huge plays to Bernard Berrian or there is the loser that completes more passes to the defense than to his recievers. Well we definitely know it is not the Bears defense. The defense has only allowed 19.3 points per game, they have 10 sacks, and 3 int. With a stellar defense like this you would think that the Bears would be 3-0 or 2-1 not 1-2.
The offense under Rex Grossman has only 11 ppg., total offensive yards of 226.7 ypg, and are currently 5th from last in offensive production. In Grossman's career he has thrown my interceptions than touchdowns at 11 touchdowns compared to his 22 interceptions. With a completion rate of 51.9%. I think it was a good idea for the coaches to sit down Rex and put in veteran Brian Griese, a former pro-bowler. Brian Griese has 180 TDs in his career with 84 interceptions thrown.
If the Chicago Bears want to have any chance of making the playoffs, Brian Griese is going to be the man to lead them there. No he is not an oustanding quarterback like Peyton Manning or even Donovan McNabb, but he knows how to win with the right cast around him. Having Cedric Benson, a powerful defense, and two big play making recievers will help him win a lot of games this season. Don't be suprised to see Brian Griese to finish the season from here on out as the starting quarterback for da' Bears, if he can stay healthy.
