I don't believe Barry Bonds should retire. At least not under pressure from anyone or any organization! He is still a very talented athlete and has the freedom to do what ever he desires as long as he remains physically fit. I am sure that there are a couple of teams who will chance big money for a man 44 years old who can still run, throw, and hit a 95 mile an baseball 420 feet consistently.
Barry Bonds has had a remarkable career and a blemish that will stalk him for the rest of his life. But his accomplishments will not go unnoticed, not everyone feels he has failed. That doesn't mean he has to walk away from the game he has loved all his life. I don't think the money matters to him anymore. His father Bobby was a fighter and great player. He taught Barry to keep fighting too, no matter who was watching.
Truly, baseball has changed over the years. When Babe Ruth played, nobody criticized the "Bambino". As far as I can recall, every public thing, good or tainted that man did, was noticed as "Godly". It was all for the good of the game! What we are witnessing again in baseball history is a legend being ushered to the side with his marked place in the books.
This is my opinion, Barry Bonds shouldn't retire. But that is up to Barry!
