A couple of years ago, my best friend gave birth to a set of twins, and I got an education on all the necessities when it comes to having two beautiful babies at the same time! Here are some great gift ideas that will undoubtedly make some lives a little easier:

1. A Double Stroller. This is a true necessity, and it's surprising how many people forget about this item when it comes to baby showers (my best friend and her sister, who also had twins, both forgot to register for one!). There are many great double stroller on the market these days, but personally I feel that the best are the three-wheel sport models, as they are usually easy to fold and clean, and provide great storage.

2. Twin Baby Carrier. In addition to a double stroller, the double baby carrier is another must, especially when babies are young. There are many different styles and brands to choose from and all are safe and easy to use.

3. Diapers. When twins arrive, diapers are in constant need; I was amazed at how many my friend went through in one week with her twins! If you don't feel as though this is a thoughtful enough gift, get something else and throw in a package of diapers too!

4. Gift Certificate for a Reliable and Qualified Babysitting Service. This is a wonderful gift, and the parents of twins are often so stressed by their new additions that they forget to find time for themselves. Make sure to get a gift certificate with an expiration date that is at least a year from the time of the Baby Shower, as many new parents don't like to leave their babies within the first few months. If you feel up to it, you can also offer your own babysitting services.

5. Housekeeping Service. Taking care of twins in the first few months of life is a huge task, and parents often find that they are unable to keep up with the housework while getting into a routine. Pay for one or two visits by a professional housekeeper or offer your own services if you've got the time.

6. " EZ -2-Nurse Twins" Pillow. This pillow, made of comfortable and durable foam is great for nursing twins. I've seen my friend use it several times and it makes feeding time go much smoother.

7. " Moby Wrap". This wrap is one of the greatest things for a new mother of twins. It's soft, comfortable, durable and very easy to clean...and best of all, you can carry two little bundles of joy in it until they are at least 6 weeks old!

8. Magazine Subscription. This is a great gift idea, especially for new parents. When it comes to multiples, the joys are doubled and so are the stresses, so it's great for parents to be able to employ new and innovative techniques. TWINS magazine is wonderful.

In the end, the greatest gift that you can give to a friend who is having multiples is your support...any extra help that you can offer will be a life-saver!
