How to remove animal hair from furniture

One of the biggest caveats of being a cat or dog owner is having to deal with your pet's shedded fur that accumulates in every nook and cranny of your furniture. For some people, the solution is to simply not allow their pet to jump up on sofas and chairs, but let's face it: most of us could not deny letting our furry friends enjoy a cozy spot to sleep or cuddle with us. Fortunately, many home goods manufacturers have recognized how important pets are in our lives and make several products that are quite effective at removing pet hair from upholstery.

Scotch, for example, makes a whole slew of pet hair removal products. Its "Fur Fighter" gripper makes pet hair removal fast and easy. The handheld product is wrapped with a disposable surface that contains thousands of rubber grippers (called "Microtrap Grippers") that grab onto hair and pull it away from fabric. The tool is designed to be able to reach into corners and other hidden areas in furniture where pet hair accumulates. The product also comes in a size for car seats and refills are available for each version.

Scotch also makes a line of pet hair rollers in several sizes to accommodate your clothing, car seats as well as the furniture in your home. These all have an ergonomic handle and work like masking tape; when the sticky surface has accumulated enough fur, you simply peel it off to remove the next layer of tape underneath. There are also several vacuum cleaner models designed to answer the needs of pet owners. Traditionally, trying to vacuum pet hair was a losing battle as hair gets embedded into furniture fabric, but a few vacuum products change that. The Bissell 3920 Dual Cyclonic Upright Cleaner has been receiving rave reviews on Amazon.com, with some consumers saying it removes pet hair better than a similar model by Dyson. This vacuum comes with a pet-hair lifter and several other tools that eradicate pet fur from fabric surfaces. It retails for $147.83 on Amazon. For a cheaper item, the Bissell 33A1 Pet hair Eraser Corded Handheld Vacuum Cleaner retails for only $28.88 on Amazon and has received mostly 5-star ratings from consumers who purchased it. Its very powerful suction leaves no pet hair behind, according to reviewers, and users love its small portable size and HEPA filters that remove for easy cleaning.
