To have an effective street team and music promotion, you first have to make sure that you have a great staff. This is something that a person can't do alone but it takes a team to be serious and dedicated to being successful. This could make or break many artists. You could have a great album or whatever you're trying to promote, but if your promotion isn't where it should be the results could be disastrous. The first thing you should make sure is that the team you assemble knows the goals that you are trying to accomplish. This gives everyone a clear focus on what you are trying to obtain. If you don't have determination or dedication, then you already know that the promotion will be a mess. You also should be organized, give everyone a specific job or location that you want them to work so that the promotion is covering a wide range and not just the same locations. These are just common sense tips that can determine whether the promotion is going to be a mess or a success.
You also have to make sure that you have a team that is passionate and driven. The team on the streets, reflects how you look. That's why the street team should have great communication skills and strong personalities, that make them able to talk or sell to anyone.
The number one rule I believe that is the most effective is, that the team work together as one. If the team works together, then I'm sure they will achieve the best at anything.
For example, an artist like Slim Thug had an effective street team that marketed and organized very well. He was able to sell over one million mix tapes creating his own success before even being a major recording artist. You have to be able to create buzz around your project. If you have people spreading the world through your street team and they are doing an efficient job, then word of mouth will begin to travel even faster than your street team. People forget that you have to get the audience involved because they are the ones buying the music. The street team should also survey the audience to see what they like and don't like so the artist will be able to grow and the audience can feel involved with the project. It's all about getting people involved with what you're doing. To gain more exposure for promotion you could also throw parties and community events where you may be able to display some of your work and you can also do interviews to get more personal with the audience. It takes work for promoting, but if someone is serious enough about their work then they will work hard for it becomes nothing comes for free.
