Film ideas come from every where. When you walk down the street, to when your sitting at home. When was the last time you sat down to watch a movie, and was highly disappointed with the ending, or the whole movie? After which you sat there, and the thoughts of what you would have done flow through your head. That little thought could be enough to spark an entirely new script.
I know that when I began writing screenplays five years ago it was because I was reading one that my ex-wife had wrote. The beginning was pretty good, but it began to slip off around the middle. Out of frustration I began to write my own. I started writing, and haven't stopped writing ever since. It has been five years later, and through every trial, and problem I have encountered I have worked through.
Back to the topic. If you really want to write a screenplay. Sit down, and think about something that you enjoy. A movie genre that interest you. Then ask your self one question. What if? What if this happened, or what if things were this way instead of the way they are. There are so many different ways to phrase this question. All you have to do is find the answer, and your set. Then you can begin to write your screenplay with confidence, and look forward to your next problem. How do I get this from paper to film? Until then good luck.
