Oh, baby! Swollen feet, achy back, and you're ready to pop! As you waddle around in your last months, a few baby showers are sure to pop up. You expect the normal things: clothing, diapers, bottles, blankets, and so many stuffed animals you could start your own zoo. What are some creative things that a new mother could use to make life a tad bit easier?
1. Baby Monitor - I'll admit, I let my little one sleep in the same room with her daddy and I for awhile. But, soon came the time to move her to her room. I cried, but she didn't. The monitor helped calm my nerves, as I still heard every squeak and snore coming from my baby.
2. Bumbo - I cannot even tell you how useful this is! It's a real lifesaver when you need to use the bathroom, and need a place to sit the baby! Information available at www.bumbobabyseat.com.
3. Musical Crib Attachment - My daughter loves hers! It plays classical music, and soothing nature sounds. Hers has moving birds, and a light show to keep her interest as she winds down. Check out www.fisherprice.com.
4. Batteries - The one thing you don't think about! A's, C's, and D's, oh my! How many batteries can toys go through? Go to Sam's Club or Costco, and buy in bulk! You will save money and time.
5. Space Saver High Chair It was three of us in an apartment. Another over-sized baby gadget would have been awful. I found a Fisher Price Space Saver High Chair. It's compact, and you just attach it to a regular kitchen chair. You can find them for sale at www.target.com.
6. Pack N Play - The bassinet is perfect for your newborn, especially if you want her to sleep in your room for awhile. As she gets older, it makes a nice safe, play area. It's great to take on trips, and to the babysitter. www.gracobaby.com
7. Stroller and Car Seat Travel System - It was nice to be able to put my two month old in her car seat, and then fit her down into her stroller. The travel system allowed me to take walks with my baby. Check out www.gracobaby.com for more information.
8. Websites - I can't believe how the internet has helped me! I was so lucky to find sites that gave me information, and connected me with other mothers. Here are some good ones to check out: www.pregnancyweekly.com, www.cafemom.com, and www.babycenter.com.
9. A Baby Book - Maybe not a must have to help with your child, but it's an excellent way to preserve precious moments. Leave a history for your little one to look back on.
10. Family - They were, and still are, my lifesavers! You could own every baby gadget out there, but it all boils down to a great support system. Don't hesitate to ask when you need help, especially during those first months.
