Poetry: Bitter

All this knowledge surrounds,
It is everywhere but in our own minds;
Therefore it only accomplishes to confound
All the many prodigies of our kind

They want, they need it to to grow:
Like plants they nourish and prosper,
Filling in the blanks to help us flow;
Henceforth our ignorance is their killer

With our fumes of lies we suffocate
With our selfish minds we intoxicate
With our jealous hearts we over-medicate
Because of us the carnivores, they're bait.

We shred up our leaders, and spit them out
It's no wonder they ask what the fuss is about
They were only trying to excel, to master, to earn
the privilege of knowledge, and now they'll never learn.

I guess that means that we won't either
You see they weren't our enemies, but our teachers
So now that the knowledge of the world is gone
Maybe now, just maybe, we'll see what we've done wrong.

    quit -
    but
