speech. According to him no one wants racist speech. Lawrence with his knowledge believes that free speech causes good intentions to occur. Lawrence talks about brown v. board of Education to tell that freedom should not be on someone's race or color. Freedom and rights are provided equally to everyone without any difference of race, color and sex.
Experience of a person makes once thinking and personality. As both the authors values the people's right, freedom of speech have totally different experience. Lawrence as pathos is very emotional about freedom of speech and wants "Everyone concerned with these issues must find ways to engage actively in actions that resist and counter the racist ideas that we would have the first amendment protect." On the other hand
Bok has experience different cultures on Harvard University he gets as of pathos feel so much about racism as he has experienced and as a president of the university had made rules and regulations towards it.
Now a day's racism is becoming a worldwide issue, as the interactions of people of different cultures are taking place. It is becoming a huge deal and it should be protected. Constitution of a country should not protect the speech which hurts someone's feelings or is against once reputation. Lawrence feels that somebody out there has to barite this. He feels that someone should stand against racism. Bok feels that if enough concern and attention is not given to this issue they issue will become huge and no one would do any thing about it.
Talking about the harmful speech everyone has different forms of speech which affects them. One kind of speech can affect some people and some not. Every nation has defined harmful speech according to their cultures. In some nations with relatively authoritarian forms of government, overt government censorship is enforced, censorship has been claimed to occur in a different form and there are different approaches to issues such as hate speech, obscenity and defamation laws. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Freedom_of_speech). Harmful speech shouldn't be protected as it can hurt someone's feelings and can be on the rights of others.
There's general law of "Race, Racism and the Law consider race, racism and racial distinctions in the law. It examines the role of domestic and international law in promoting and alleviating racism. The site includes statutes, cases, excerpts of law review articles, annotated bibliographies and other documents related to race and racism."(http://academic.udayt on.edu/race/).
