Understanding equality issues in a free world

Freedom Equally or Discriminating

The Constitution is the system of fundamental principles according to which a nation, state, corporation, or the like, is governed. (Constitution). The Constitution provided the First Amendment an amendment to the U.S. Constitution, ratified in 1791 as part of the Bill of Rights, prohibiting Congress from interfering with freedom of religion, speech, assembly, or petition.(

First Amendment).Freedom is the right to enjoy all the privileges or special rights of citizenship, membership, etc., in a community or the like. Everyone has equal freedom and rights to express themselves. The freedom of speech should not be allowed for people's feelings to be hurt. Racist speech should not be protected.
Freedom of speech should be limited because our responsibility is to sensitivities of others. As talking bout myself, I am related to different culture and speak different language but I have never experienced racist on campus. Rights and freedoms are provided to give equal opportunity to everyone and live equally without any discrimination. Prejudice and racial stereotyping are two of this country's greatest problems today. Many people in our society have tried to find ways to eliminate or at least limit these types of behavior, but have met with very limited, if any, success. Because of the complex nature of racism and racist acts, coupled with the fact the first amendment prohibits the government from limiting the publics' right to free expression and speech, the Federal government has been ineffective in eliminating racist actions that pervade our society. The article "On Racist Speech" by Charles R. Lawrence is from "Current Issues And The Enduring Questions" it is about that freedom of speech should not be on the rights of others. Lawrence in his article mostly talks about the racist speech and how it should be protected. Lawrence, author of numerous articles in law journals and teaches law at Stanford University. Lawrence about harassing speech says that "the problem has been framed as one in which the liberty of free speech is in conflict with the elimination of racism. I believe this has placed the bigot on the moral high ground and fanned the rising flames of racism." (Lawrence.51). Lawrence is worried about the racist violence and harassment. He thinks that the people who protects minority also protects free speech. He also gives an example of brown v. board of Education that it is not a case
