Roses are red,
But crafty, too...
Put them in a wreath,
to let love bloom
One of the most welcoming decorations you can have in your home is a wreath The wreath is the shape of a circle, which represents life. And, as everyone know, the rose is the flower of love. So, a wonderful way to show your feelings for life, or for someone you love is with a rose wreath.
A garland wreath is fairly easy to make. You will need the following materials:
Styrofoam wreath
moss
Greening Pins
Garland of Roses
Floral Wire
Extra Greenery, Baby's breath, ribbon, etc...
When preparing the wreath place it on a table and follow these steps:
1. Wrap Styrofoam wreath with moss, and using greening pins, secure the moss.
2. Lay the garland of roses on top of the moss around the wreath. (Be sure to unwind the garland first.)
3. Cut any excess garland off.
4. Using greening pins, attach the roses.
5. With the extra garland, cut the roses to fill in any blank areas around te wreath and secure with pins.
6. Hang your wreath (see how to make a hanger-below)
7. Add any extra greenery (baby's breath, ribbon, etc...) and secure with pins.
It is best to have your wreath hanging at eye level to see what extras you want to add.
To make a hanger for your wreath, you will need floral wire. Simply:
1. Cut a piece of wire approximately 8-10 inches long.
2. Fold the wire in half.
3. Twist the top of your folded wire approximately one and one half inches from the top of the fold (in order to make a small circle that will hang on your nail in the wall).
4. Push the 2 ends of the wire into the back of the wreath, leaving only the circle visible.
A rose wreath is described here, but this type of wreath can be used for any season. Buy the type garland that is appropriate to your needs. Fill in blank spaces with decorations that correspond to the holiday or event you are celebrating.
