she had known all of them for a long time, this guy had walked into her life not 18-hours ago.
Her heart won the argument. Nikolas was staying. If he wanted to
Kim drew a deep breath, wondering what he would say, hoping that he would decide to stay. She loved the feeling of not being lonely any more. Her family was 2 hours away, and she only had her students for a year each.
She drew another deep breath. "Nikolas?" she said softly. He turned his big emerald eyes to her, showing her she had his full attention.
"Uh,umm, would you, well. Since you don't really seem to have a place to stay.wouldyouliketostayherewit hme?" Kim asked him quickly running her words all together. For a moment he still just stared at her, blinking before her words sunk in. His expression turned to one of shock and disbelief, before he turned away from her.
Kim took this as a no and started apologizing for being to forward, stumbling over her words before a soft murmur came from Nikolas, so soft she almost didn't hear it.
"Why would you want me to stay with you? My own people do not want me, so why you?"
She tapped his shoulder and he turned to look at her, and the sad smile on her face.
"I'm lonely too. I don't really know what happened to you, and I don't really care. That was in your world. Now you're in mine. You can start over, and we can keep each other company."
He still looked like he didn't believe her, but gave her a small smile anyway.
"In that case, please, call me Nik."
