Short stories: Fantasy

match to find she had almost over cooked her lunch and poured it into a bowl, heading back to the living room.
Kim saw Nikolas staring into the leftover broth from his ramen, and he just looked so lost, so sad. Almost immediately, her heart won out over her common sense. Her mind came back and bit her heart in the ass.
It isn't your problem! You've already got enough of them!'

YOU wouldn't be so lonely if he stayed. Only yesterday you were complaining about having no friends here.'
She shook her head and sat down next to him, slurping at her soup noisily. He looked at her like she was crazy, and she looked back.
"What?" she asked around a mouthful of noodles.
"Do you have no manners?" he asked her.
Kim grinned at him.
"Yes, I do. But it's been so long since I've had anyone over or gone anywhere that I seem to have forgotten them."
HE smiled at her, and hesitantly asked
"Now that you know where I come from, what is the name of this world? And why is your home so empty?"
"This world is called Plant Earth, but you're in a more specific region. You're in the United States of America, in the state of Ohio. As for why my house has no one in it. I live alone." She seemed to hesitate on the last part, like she didn't wasn't to say it.
"But why do you live alone? Are you like me?"
Kim shook her head. "No, no; I left my home by choice. My family likes to coddle me because I'm the youngest and I moved away to have some freedom." Nikolas scooted closer to her and rested his head against her shoulder, and Kim tensed at the boys' too-familiar gesture.
"Um, Nikolas? What are you doing?" she asked the top of his rust-orange head. He sensed her discomfort, and was confused. Did her kind not like to be touched? Was she like the steely Wolves of his home?
"Just laying my head down, is that alright?" he asked. "My kind, we're dependent on touch. We get lonely easily, and I have not felt another's touch that did not hold malice or pity in weeks." He explained.
She hummed' softly, relaxing for him, and suddenly got the most ridiculous idea. "You're like a big housecat. It's a good thing I really like cats or I might be allergic to you." She murmured.
He huffed in annoyance and said, "I am not a house cat. I am not nearly a snobby as them."
As she laughed at his obvious disdain she realized something. She didn't feel lonely anymore. In the half-hour they had talked, she felt lighter, happier. She usually only felt this way with her family, or when she teased and made her students laugh. But
