she couldn't just leave the boy in the backyard to freeze, she hauled him up. Finding that he was light, lighter than someone his size should be, she carried him into the house and laid him on the couch.
Kim left and went into the bathroom, finding little bandages to put on the numerous scrapes and cuts she had seen on the boy.
Looks like I'm not going to work tomorrow.' She thought as she headed back into the living room.

The boy, whom Kim had dubbed Orange' because of his hair, did not wake until noon the next day.
He squinted his eyes open and shut a few times, before opening them completely. For a moment he seemed relaxed, calm, then he shot up ramrod straight, eyes searching franticly about the room.
"Hey, hey, calm down. Your fine, in a strange place, but fine." Kim cooed to him. His eyes landed on her and stayed there, as Kim slowly walked over to him, like he was a frightened animal.
She sat down next to the couch, and put a hand on his arm. She smiled at him when he didn't pull away. I'd be a lot less trusting if I were in this situation.'
"Relax a little buddy, your safe here. No more punks to chase you up a tree. How do you feel?" Kim spoke to him like they had been friends their entire lives. Truly, she didn't even know if the kid spoke English or not.
Orange' swallowed thickly, obviously still nervous.
"Where am I? And who are you?" he whispered, completely dodging the question.
Kim turned and stood, grabbing the cup of water and bowl of ramen that had been her lunch, and giving it to the kid.
"I'm Kim Carson, and right now, you're in my house in some random little county in Ohio." She said kindly. "Now who are you, and why were you being chased by a bunch of street thugs?"
He ate a bit of soup before answering
"Um, my, my name is Nikolas Harleonas." He said softly. "And I have no idea why those people were chasing me. They just saw me, and, and, started yelling and waving fists." he shuddered at the memory.
She blinked at him, and then reached up to the top of his head. She stared to gently stroke the soft fuzz of his cat ears.
"Maybe, it was because of these?" she asked him. "No one on this planet has ears like these that are real."
He seemed unable to answer, due to the fact that a deep rumbling sound coming from his chest. Kim giggled. Nikolas was purring!
She stopped petting and he stopped purring, looking mildly disappointed.
"Its good you're feeling well." She said, getting up and wiping invisible dust from her pants. "You weren't banged up real bad, so
