Thousands of people search the internet each day for a home based business so they can make a few extra dollars in their spare time or realise a dream of giving up the rat race altogether. The problem is there are many promises out there on the internet that are very hollow. Here are some of the things to watch for when evaluating the sales pitch for a home or online business.
Firstly, simply be aware that the owner of the site wants you to buy their online business package. The web site owner will likely have invested a lot of money in getting professional copy that will have been written to a formula. This formula systematically builds up your expectations and trust while removing all of your objections as you read down the page. Be aware of this up front and it will help you be objective when evaluating business opportunities.
On many pitch pages you will find pictures of mansions, flashy cars and boats that you are meant to believe belong to the owner of the site. In some cases that may well be true but how are you to know? Be wary. Does the picture of the Ferrari resemble one from a sales brochure? Then it it probably is from a brochure. Does the house photo look like it came from a real estate web site? Then it it probably did. These pictures are backed up with personal stories. One of the most popular is how their neighbours come over and ask them why they never go to work, yet they are able to enjoy such a life of luxury.
Also be cynical when it comes to the "testimonials" from other people who have purchased the system. While it may be illegal to use fake testimonials it is very difficult to prove. Look at the style of writing in the body copy and compare it to the language in the testimonials. If it is similar then they could be made up. Ask yourself if a real person would actually say something like "After following your system, I realized I was making money within minutes of implementation. When I woke up the next morning I had already pulled in more money than I do at a full days work, all while sleeping! Thanks so much for this life changing system". They would be more likely to say something like "Well I made $150 in the first month. Although it cost that much to get started I can see that the system works. Thanks for the info". You get the idea. Plus, be especially careful if these testimonials are attributed to someone like "J.H, Atlanta". How many J.H's are there in Atlanta?
Moving on, just when they have you seriously thinking you must
