Investing in the stock market can be a huge risk. Most people would agree. However 9 out of 10 people would probably agree that the benefits can out weigh the risks. After I was Bar Mitzvahed last year, I decided that instead of letting my gift money sit in account and never seeing it again, I decided to invest it in stocks. Originally, I chose four corperations to invest in, Nike, McDonalds, Yahoo!, and Fortune Bands Inc. Fortune Brands is the owner of Titelist golf balls. Strangely enough, the company that just about nobody had heard of has been the most profitable. And while I regret investing in some of the companies that I did, I am pleased to say that I made over one thousand dollars after one year of investing. If you heard the name "Fortune Brands Inc." you'd probably think nothing of it, but look into companies like that, you never know what other corperations they own. But most importantly, always research companies before investing. Look at their charts, see if they are profitable, and find out where they stand on issues that are important to you. For example, If you are thinking about investing in a medical supplies company and you find out that their products have contributed to deaths in the past, investing in their company is probably not such a good idea. Finally, have fun and good luck with your investments.
