Genetically modified foods are the best way to ensure a healthy food source for our consumption. The foods that are genetically modified stay fresh longer, repel insects and as such it takes care of the problems of food safety. From spoiled food, to food that has been rendered inedible by the wonderful world of insects.
Imagine a world where we wont have to spray insecticides to keep our food supply safe from hungry insects. It is rather hard to imagine, an apple that repel ls insects on its own, or a celery stick that naturally stays fresh longer.
Their is a fear among some that such things would alter us, by our consuming such products. From my limited knowledge of the human digestive system, I don't see how our enzymes, that break down foods for our digestion, can be altered by eating a superior apple. What exactly is supposed to happen? Are we to change our whole internal system of bodily wonders, due to a food being altered?
I dont see how, except in the movies, an apple, ear of corn or better tomato could ever come back to haunt us for our having partaken of its bounty.
The cost of such a system, would soon be paid for by way of the increased production and possibility of transporting all over the globe.
