Planning for the arrival of a baby (especially if it's your first) can be so exciting. Of course you will want to give your baby a grand welcome. In the mist of all the excitement however, the following items are must-haves for your brand new baby:
1. Diapers These may seem obvious, but you should invest in both disposable and reusable ones. Reusable nappies are ideal for night-time when your baby's skin needs to breathe while disposable diapers are great for day-time; especially for a mum on-the-move.

2. Changing Mat This does not have to be anything fancy; something practical and compact will do; especially for outings.

3. Baby Wipes These are also easy to remember. Again, investing in both disposable and reusable types are advisable as explained above.

4. Diaper Rash Spray/Cream Combat diaper rash with an antibacterial rash spray or cream to leave your baby feeling relieved and refreshed.

5. Breast Pump You will need this to extract and store breast milk for your baby. This is especially true for working mothers who may not have the luxury of breastfeeding all the time.

6. Nursing Bra Choose the bras that offer you the most support and the best accessibility.

7. Sterilizing Set Complete with bottles, nipples, pacifiers and brushes, this takes care of feeding your baby with a bottle and keeping both bottles and nipples clean.

8. Baby Sling/Carrier/Stroller/Car Seat You could purchase these items singly or in a set. A sling suffice for moving around the home and maybe in the nursery at work; a carrier is sturdier and will be ideal for grocery shopping while the stroller can be used for longer journeys. If driving, the car seat is recommended.

9. Baby crib and Accessories Choose a sturdy crib for your baby. Cotton bedding are preferable for aeration. Sleep positioners are also a good investment.

10. Wraps/Caps/Mittens/Booties - These are all effective in keeping baby warm and cozy.
