Once more, we have a racial problem where both sides are totally wrong. And, as usual, the same cast of disruptive characters comes out of the woodwork to make the already bad situation infinitely worse, and, of course, get their faces and voices on national TV.
After a couple of days of posturing and 1960s speechmaking, all of the agitators have faded away to look for more imaginary dragons to slay. Wouldn't it have been much more intelligent to allow the people of the town of Jena to solve their problems on their own, without outside interference?
Of course, the residue of white hatred is still lurking in Jena because of the so-called whites-only tree and the noose incidents. That inexcusable attitude must be addressed and corrected by the school, parents and town officials. However, the black teen, whatever his provocation, is in jail is for committing a violent crime on another teen. A teen revenge fist fight is one thing, but when six brave kids gang up on one, the wrongs always outweigh any rights. Anyhow, if it had been the other way, a white on black crime, it would still be a crime.
The resolution of the offense is for the courts to decide. Nothing is ever solved by professional outside agitators dragging in a thousand rioters with their knee-jerk shouts, slogans and signs. It makes for good TV exposure for their egos and agendas, but leaves Jena with an even bigger problem to solve.
