Astrology: Practical uses and scientific aspects

By every single definition that one could define a pseudo-scientific position; astrology fits that definition. There is nothing whatsoever within astrology that one could determine as a scientific proposition.

The fact that an astrologer uses a chart and plots that chart using mathematics; does not therefore mean those charts are objectively definable in relationship with reality. They are only logical within the confines of the charts themselves. This is much like the science of computer modeling. Climate scientists often use computer models to understand the climate. But as every climatologist knows, the environment is a 'thousand' times more complex than a computer model... This is actually not a very good analogy; at least computer models are grounded in science and attempt to identify facts of reality. Astrology on the other hand is grounded in mysticism.

It is of course true that modern astronomy can be traced back to astrology. But the very reason that astrology has been dumped in favor of astronomy is no different than the reason that alchemy has been dumped for chemistry. As we identify known laws of physics the mystical elements of any proposition slowly get dumped.

Where are the peer reviewed scientific papers in favor of astrology.... of course there aren't any and never will be... That is because astrology is not science, it is pseudo-Science.

Of course the supposed relationship between one star formation and another is really a n arbitrary mind-spun relationship. No such relationship really exists. Most of these stars are light years away from one another. It is only natural that mankind forms these patterns... We are pattern seeking animals and we tend to see patterns everywhere in nature. Thus we even anthropomorphise faces... such as the 'smiley face' on the moon.

So lets tell it as it really is. Astrology is based purely on mysticism and there is no science to be had. Indeed, not only is there no science to be had, astrology is also an insult to the faculty of reason and the minds ability to grasp reality through the reasoning process. To hold up astrology as true is really the same as saying I dispense with science and live by the tenets of the mystic.
