This can be very scary for the freelance writer who is not confident in their writing or their ability to promote their content, because a considerable amount of time is put into researching and writing quality content on a gamble that they may never be paid if no one reads it.

However, on the publishing end of this, it allows the publisher to actually pay more to the writers who do manage to gain a readership and write content that sells. Essentially, it moves the gamble away from the publisher and puts the risk back on the freelance writer.

For a new freelance writer, this might just be a foot in the door to a writing career that in the past would have taken years to break into, if at all.

As a new freelance writer, page view or ad revenue freelance writing sites are a great way to break into the field of freelance writing, because the publisher is not taking a huge risk in publishing you - YOU are taking that risk instead - and therefore, these paid by view of ad revenue payment writing sites give an unknown writer a chance to become known.

If you are new to freelance writing, and you have not proven you can get page views yet, freelance writing sites have only one thing to use to determine whether they should pay you in advance, and that is to look at how similar content has performed on their site in the past.

If similar content on the site hasn't performed well, the publisher can't risk paying you in advance. However, if they were to allow you a chance to publish it without an advance payment, you can prove to them you can get page views, and then you will be paid for your article or content based on those page views or the ad revenue the site earns from your content.

Without that option, you might have received merely a rejection saying, "Thanks for the submission, but we can't offer you payment at this time."

Now, these freelance writing sites that base their payments on page views or ad revenue are giving you a chance to actually publish that content anyway, and if that content does well, you will make money!

Even better - the better that content the freelance writer submitted performs, the more money the freelance writer can make - in the past, the advance payment or payment upon publication was all the writer would ever make on that content, regardless of how much money the publisher made from it.
