To write great poetry
One needs some expert advice.
So here are a few rules
For creating art.

Initially comes rhythm: tricky!
You can't change it much at all
Or the critics will notice your error (mistake?).

Next there is rhyme:
A once-beloved literary device
(In a long gone time)
Is now just another writerly vice.

Imagery is vastly important, too.
A poem without images
Is a great deal like a pizza
Without cheese . . .
(Though you could still eat the pizza)

Literary devices are essential.
Alliteration always astounds!
Personification will always be your friend.
But hyperbole is the absolute best by far.

Critics agree that
Spacing
Is important. Furthermore, it
Is
A great tool for making your work
Pretty
And for making clear to readers
Your meanings most
Strange.

References and allusions to the obscure
Should be scattered through your work
Like the broken shards of Soul Edge.

Once you have it all in place,
All you need to do
Is read it all over,
And then select
