did the guy in the White House come from?) but there is a lot more stupidity. Now, I don't mind people being stupid if it only affects them, but for them to be imposing their foolish conservative views on their children, to the extent that it puts their health at risk - that in my book is stupidity of the highest order.
Yes, cervical cancer - the type that stems from HPV - is a sexually transmitted disease, but that is the point of vaccinating girls before they become sexually active. Gardasil is 100 per cent effective then - but only 70 per cent if they have already been infected by HPV. I fail to understand how this promotes promiscuity.
Am I missing something here? I could understand it if the objection was related to serious side effects, but the only noted ones are pain, swelling, redness and itching. Much as the same effects as you get from any other vaccination or even when donating blood. But promiscuity? Come on guys, if your convictions are so strong, surely you could put your faith in your kids doing the right thing. This vaccination should be viewed in the context of protecting them for that time way off into the future when they become sexually active.
Perhaps the conservative right need to realise that being 'right' doesn't necessarily mean that you are correct. May well you put your faith and trust in God, because I'm afraid you are too scared of putting any trust in your own daughters.
For the record, Australia has started vaccinating girls this year and I applaud the Federal Government's approach on this issue. I also have three daughters and they will all be vaccinated.
