Young children are the responsibility of parents, not the government.
The idea that children are being harmed because President Bush might veto the CHIP bill is absurd. Do the folks who demand health insurance for children know where the parents of these children are? Why are the parents not taking care of their kids? Why do they need a taxpayer-funded handout to do what they should be doing?
This issue says more about the encroaching nanny-state that democrats want than it does about any legitimate problem regarding children's health care. In fact, you can always tell when an issue is a loser when its advocates claim that children will be victimized. Like human shields, liberals use children to deflect attacks upon their lame socialist programs. This is where taxpayers need to stand up and fight and ask the aforementioned tough questions.
The left is wedded to the destructive idea that government is the be-all and end-all of human existence. This goes hand-in-hand with their demonization of businesses, which they mistakenly view as evil, greedy, cold and heartless. Of course, this is also how they view conservatives and Republicans who have the audacity to believe that individuals are smart enough to manage their own lives. The narrative of the democrats is more government control over our lives and higher taxes for the greater good.
What the democrats won't tell you is that this is a slow descent into the hell of socialism. When the government, regardless of party, has the power to dictate the kind of health care that you receive, totalitarianism has become a reality.
