Paint By Tears
Black mascara
And heavy make-up applied
To hide
The dark circles
Of exhaustion -
The ebony attire
Speaks for itself.
Hold up your work,
Your interpretation
Of one emotion!
Sombre contours
Swirled around,
Careful brush strokes
Joining up aphotic patches
On crinkled paper.
But if you look
A little closer
Two lines streak down;
Paint-by-tears.

and fight to keep the tears at bay.
Your news has shattered my whole life
and taken
