Testimonials: Humorous stories from of job loss and unemployment

This is an example of having a boss that just thinks she knows everything. Whenever I hear someone is having difficult times at work because of a boss like the one that I had, I share this story with them.

I was working for a mid sized Consumer Finance Company. I had been employed there for almost two years. I had been in the same line of work for almost ten years. I had worked my way up from the very bottom (CSR) to management. I tried to always remember my employees, because I had had several managers on my way up that seemed to forget what it was like to be paid next to nothing for doing most of the work. I made friends in the company very easily. I knew most of the home office staff personally. If I needed something most of the time, I would just call the person in charge of that area and solicit their advise. Everyone I think appreciates someone putting that kind of confidence in them. I mean it feels good for someone to ask you something because they know that you are intelligent enough and have the authority to take care of a situation.

Well it did not take long for my Supervisor to take notice of this. She would always recognize me at meetings. She would say things like, "If all my managers were as efficient as this lady I could just stay at home". This kind of attention from her in front of the home office staff helped me to form relationships with even more home office employees and some of them were close to the owner. He sent his son to work in my office (I think to report back to him) anyway, his son told me that I was one of the best managers in the company. He liked how I took care of things without making it a burden on others. He also like the way I treated my employees. Now the owner knows that I am for real.

Well turns out, my Supervisor is not all that she's cracked up to be. I had heard rumors about how she got her position in the company. I never thought this was true, because I had known her reputation from other companies. One day she asked to take me to lunch. She stopped on the way and purchased a pack of cigarettes which I thought was weird since I had never seen her smoke. Well at lunch she had a few too many drinks, and she started confessing things that she had done to get to where she was. I won't bore you with all the details, but let's just say she gave names, and details. Now keep in mind I did not solicit any of this, and quite frankly sat there with my jaw dropped down. I could not believe what I was hearing.

Two days later she
