I used to love going to birthday parties when I was kid. Being able to party with all you friends, eat all the junk food you like, getting that party bag at the end filled with all the goodies, and playing those awesome games were a blast.
Children's party games have to be fun, easy to set up, and require as little equipment as possible.
Here are a few games that are sure to keep children entertained, which require very little effort on the parent's behalf.\
1. HAVE-A-GO
- This game needs to be played with an even number of people as children need to either pair up or get into groups.
The aim is to create scenarios that go for about 1-2 mins and the children need to act them out in front of the judges. They can be about absolutely anything they want them to be about, or the judges can give them a topic and they need to act on that. It gives them an opportunity to use their imagination and have fun without worrying about looking stupid because everyone else is involved.
2. Treasure Hunt
- Divide kids into teams 1 through 4 depending on how many are at the party. Make up clues and scatter them all over the house (and outside, too, if weather permits). Each clue leads to the next and at the end of the trail is a treasure for the team, for example, food, party favors, or prizes. Colour code clues so teams only find their own clues. Time the hunt and see which team gets done first.
3. Whose Shadow is This?
- Put a white sheet on the wall. One of the players sits down on the chair facing the sheet. At the opposite side of the room there is a lamp on a table. All the players walk between the lamp and the guesser in turn. The guesser must try to identify the others by their shadows as they walk past. The players try to change their shadows. The player who is recognized becomes the guesser.
4. Opposites.
- Have a parent stand in front of the children, making sure the children are spread out. The parent must call out an instruction (eg. jump, hop on left/right leg, wave left/right arm etc) and the children must do the opposite of what is being said. Last person standing is the winner.
5. Three-Legged-Race
- This is a classic game and fun for all ages. Pair up the children and set up an obstacle course they have to get through. Don't make it too difficult but don't make it too easy either. Whoever completes the race in the fastest time wins the prize.
6. Guess What it is?
- Have about 5 boxes and place an object in each one. Be sure to have the lid on and cut a whole large enough for
