from one another," He listened to what she said and then replied, "No I don't was a separation. I said some lousy things tonight and I figured it would be best." He talked for a few more minutes and then told her he'd see her tomorrow.
"You're married?" I asked a little disappointed.
"Yes, we had an argument tonight and I said something I shouldn't have," He looked down at the phone with a sad expression on his face.
"Did you call her mother a fat cow? Believe me people do not like that."
"No," he laughed, "Though there are times when I've been tempted to. I told her that her career was going no where and that she should be a stay at home mom."
"What does she do?" I asked curiously.
"She's a massage therapist."
"Why don't you leave her? I mean if she won't do what you tell her then what good is she really?" I said getting close to him and putting my hands on his chest.
He moved my hands off of him and looked at me straight in the eyes, "You are going to make me regret helping you out tonight," then he moved away from me and over to his suit case, "I could never leave her."
"Why not? People do it all the time."
He looked at me with an expression of sympathy, "I love my wife. She's the reason I live each day. To see her smile aimed at me stops my heart every time. She could stab me in the heart and I couldn't bear the thought of leaving her." I could see the love he had for his wife radiating from his eyes. Then a new feeling crept into me. I felt envious of this woman I didn't know. No body in my life cared about me as much as he did for his wife.
The next morning I left while he lay sleeping and left a note on his suit case:
Thank you for last night. You will never know how much you helped me. Tell your wife I said she is the luckiest woman alive.
Sincerely,
PS If you decide to leave her
You can always come find me.
