Short stories: Unrequited love

It was ten years ago when unconditional love changed the way I looked at my life. The only sad thing was the unconditional love didn't include me.
One rainy New York day I was stuck on a corner trying to get a cab. My current lover had just kicked me out of his run down apartment because I told him his mother was a fat cow. I guess he didn't like that statement too well. Now, I was down a lover and a place to stay for the night. After the tenth cab passed, I plopped to the ground and leaned my head onto the telephone pole behind me and let my tears blend in with the rain on my face.

"Here let me help you up," my eyes shot up to see who that deep British accent was coming from. I reached my hand out to his and let him pull me to my feet. He was tall and attractive with a killer body, short brown hair and hazel eye's that almost knocked me right back down.
"Thank you," it was as if my whole body was paralyzed. My hand wouldn't release his and my eyes refused to look away from those perfect lips.
"I saw you standing out here for the last ten minutes trying to get a cab." He put his hand out and the first taxi that came by pulled right up to him, "It's a gift." He smiled and it was a good thing I was getting into the cab because his smile floored me.
"That was awful nice of you, but I don't even know where I'm going to stay tonight." I swept my gaze down to his shoes and back up, "My boyfriend just kicked me out."
I could tell he was arguing with himself about something and finally he said, "You can stay with me tonight."
People find me out of this world attractive so I knew the guy didn't stand a chance that night. A few caresses of the arm, a whisper in the ear and he would take me to bed.
We pulled up in front of the Hilton inn and he helped me out of the cab and placed his hand on the small of my back to lead me inside. This guy was straight out of a fairy tale and I was a lucky step sister.
We got upstairs and he took his jacket off and hung it up and then took mine off and hung it right beside his. I laid my hand on his shoulder and whispered my gratitude by his ear. I took my shoes off and sat down on the bed.
He seemed unfazed by the come on and told me I was welcome to take a shower and that if I needed something to sleep in for the night that he had some old t-shirts and a pair of shorts. I took them and went to the bathroom to shower.
When I came out he was talking on his cell phone, "Listen honey, I thought it would be good for the night if we had a break
