You're invited to a housewarming for your best friends! What do you do now?
Whether you're buying a housewarming gift for a couple who are moving into their first home or their third, gift buying should be fun! Celebrating the couple's exciting transition into their new surroundings provides you with a unique opportunity to make them feel special and let them know that you care.
Build a theme around whatever gift you decide to give to make it unique. Create a custom gift by building around your main gift idea and let your imagination go wild.
Encarta defines "housewarming" as a party that somebody gives to celebrate moving into a new house. The key word here is "celebrate", which means to show happiness that something good or special has happened. So make gift-buying and gift-giving fun.
First of all, think about the lifestyle and individual tastes of the couple. But don't focus on this too hard. You should also think about gifts that have universal appeal and remind the couple of you fondly in years to come. The gift should reflect the importance of the occasion and create lasting memories for the couple. It is not your job to furnish the house! It's your job to make the event special!
Plants are a universal symbol of warmth and caring for new homeowners. Green foliage can brighten up any home and with proper care and nurturing will last for years to come. Bonsai trees are a perfect example of a special plant that lasts for years. Plants are especially charming when presented in a thoughtfully selected container and tied with a bow that holds instructions, plant food, and other essentials for caring for the plant. It's best to go to a local nursery or greenhouse for plants for gift giving. Retail outlets and chain stores cannot do justice to this kind of gift.
Candles are a useful and "warm" gift! Choosing the right color, scents, and styles can be fun and gives the couple something to enjoy using for many occasions. The latest aromatherapy candles are especially inviting and welcoming. A home enhanced with candlelight and the gentle aroma of lavender or vanilla wafting through the air is a haven waiting to be enjoyed. Randomly placing a variety of candle scents in varying sizes in a white wicker basket with unusual candleholders, decorative matches, elongated lighters, and brass candle snuffers makes a beautiful gift when topped off with a colorful hand-made bow! Hallmark Cards, Pottery Barn, or Crate and Barrel make this gift easy to put together in a jiffy!
