Last year I signed on as one of the Beta testers for Microsoft Office 2007. The program was very aesthetically pleasing and even though it was still in the Beta stage it worked almost flawlessly. However, there were some problems with the use of this particular Office Suite.
Microsoft Office 2007 is available in four versions.
1) Home and Student - $144.95
2) Standard - $164.95
3) Professional - $209.95
4) Ultimate $294.95
As you can see as the version increases, the price goes up accordingly. For most home users, the student edition would suffice and the license is good for up to three computers. This is purchased mainly by school districts, but it is sold to the public as well. Microsoft Office 2007 includes.
1) Word Used for creating rich content type documents.
2) Excel A spreadsheet program
3) PowerPoint Used for creating slideshow presentations
4) One Note Note pad software which is rarely used
The only trouble that one experiences with using Office 2007 is that if you save your documents in the 2007 format, the previous Office software releases cannot read the files. This is always a problem when new software is introduced into the market place. Some people that wish to have the latest and greatest software, butt heads with those that are not willing to pay for new software, when there version performs according to their needs.
Microsoft, after hearing concerns from their market base has come up with a fix. The fix upgrades previous office versions so that they can read documents created in Office 2007. It will not allow earlier versions of Office to create documents in the 2007 format, but that hardly matters. Microsoft Office 2007 can read documents created in earlier versions of the software.
The download is relatively small, only twenty seven and a half megabytes. With a broadband connection download time should only be between fifteen to twenty minutes. This is a great patch for your current versions of Office. With this patch you can ensure that you and your friends are always compatible.
