To feel sorry for baby seals is humane and just, but to judge an industry by a small portion of sick individuals is wrong. And if you think you can take a mound of furs and throw a coat together, you're sorely mistaken.
To make a coat the animals must be caught in the same region during a short period of time. Why? The region is important due to camouflage. For the colors must blend consistently throughout the garment and the color is due to the animal's environment. The period of time is for consistent density. Thus, one caught in the summer would sport thin coat whereas one in winter would be thick, soft and downy.
If hunting for fur would drop the population it is balanced by the fact that the same hunters could not return until the population rose again a check and balance.
To feel strongly in your morals is good, however, remember they are YOUR morals. Don't shove them down my throat. Respect my right to decide in a free market and you will receive my respect in return.
I chose the "yes" side due to the preservation of individual choice. Anytime the "moral" police step into the free market the result is the same another piece of liberty is taken away, another choice is made for us.
I reserve the right to manage and control my own moral decisions. As such, I will also stand up and be accountable for them, if that occasion arises.
