Poetry: Describe yourself

I am pieces of matter, formed by genetic code from my fathers pallet
A mere copy of many forgotten fore fathers chromosomes and genes

Energy attached to all other things in endless space and time
Have molded me into this independent creative thinking mind

I search for the connection to the universal intelligence of life
Seeking an understanding, dreaming and hoping someday to find a truth

Restrained by universal laws that keep me from straying beyond its bounds
I still surge into the future with only a hope of some strange immortality

Saving memories of my successes and failures as if one day they will count
A quest, that has no end, as the universe unfolds my future bit by bit

Yet knowing this, I continue to search for that knowledge which eludes me
An illusion I chase in dreams, as I feel it's presence so close around me

A perception I willingly bend into a perceived illusion of grandeur
Only to conclude as I awake, that the quest is fruitless, unless I transform

To gain the knowledge of everything I do, what I write and what I say
Will in some way change the world and bring understanding to others

I am matter and the imprint I leave behind will be my true and only reward.
