This is a yes and no answer. I would say yes in that it will definitely melt the weight off of you fast but no in that you will not keep it off for very long. I have tried the atkins diet myself, and found that you really can get on a roll and think this is the greatest thing every until you hit about the one month mark and realize you can't do it anymore. It is quite easy at first because you already have carbs in you that you are burning off and its a change of pace with food so its ok. The problem comes when your body finally adjusts to this new diet and stops losing weight. You get discouraged and either try a harsher method or give in to temptation and pig out. Your body gets bored with anything after a while and it is always a good idea to switch things up. If you were lifting weights you would not keep doing the same routine day in or day out because your muscles would get used to the work and stop progressing. You have to shock them once in a while. The same concept goes for carbs. Its great for a quick fix if you need to drop a few pounds, but don't expect to drop 20 pounds and keep it off. Your blood sugar will be so out of whack, your body will freak out and in return store whatever it can because it is starving. It is all about moderation and the type of carbs you are putting into your body. There are fast digesting carbs and slow digesting carbs. Fast digesting carbs you should stay away from at all costs. Some examples would be soda, most cereal, white bread, candy, chips etc. Slow digesting carbs are whole wheat bread, grain, oatmeal etc. Slow digesting carbs take longer for your body to process therefor slowing down how long it takes to run through your body and what is stored. Slow carbs give you far more energy where as fast carbs slow you down and make you sluggish. I would not recommend the atkins diet, but there is nothing wrong with modifying it to fit your lifestyle. Just don't forget to eat!
