Automotive maintenance: When to replace tires

A sure sign to find out that you need to replace your tires would be if you hit your breaks and the tires stop turning but the car keeps sliding. You need not wait for this to happen, there are other signs to look for, and measures to take to prevent this from happening in the first place.

A good set of tires are good for about 60 thousand miles but you may need to replace them much sooner depending on the type of terrain your are driving on. The speed that you are traveling also matters a great deal.

Tires can be expensive but if you settle for a cheaper brand then you will buying them more often so it will all balance out in the end.

During the hot weather tires tend to deflate at a fast pace. During these hot months of the year be sure to keep your tires properly inflated. Running a vehicle on tires that are not properly inflated will cause them to wear out at a faster pace, therefore causing a need for new tires.

Be sure to check your tires often for cracks in the rubber or worn out tread. Also run flat tires will not be notice able at first when they are punctured.

All and all, proper regularly scheduled tire rotation and maintenance will prolong the life of your tire and ultimately prolong your life as well.
