chance to slow down!
5. Go to Your Happy Place
Is there an image that makes you feel peaceful or fills you with good thoughts? Using visualization isn't just for new-agers anymore. Try thinking of your backyard after the first snowfall, a favorite beach or favorite indulgence. Close your eyes go there for a couple of minutes and come back. Sometimes imagining something rewarding is just as powerful as the reward itself!
And, if that isn't enough, here a few more tips to add to your schedule:
1. Get up earlier than everyone else and start your day in silence!
2. Create spa time. Sneak off into the bathroom, shut out husbands, pets and people and create your own vision of relaxation.
3. Schedule dog walks, gym time and relaxation into your work schedule.
4. Leave earlier or get in later. So maybe you can't do this every day, but once in awhile? The least you can do is leave the house early on Mondays and Fridays and make time for a Starbuck's moment.
5. Take the scenic route to or from work and blame your delay on traffic! Sure everyone is waiting for you, but if your boss came knocking at the eleventh hour, you'd give her your extra time, right, so why not take some time for yourself?
Finally, if you don't think you have enough time or you think you're running late, you won't have enough time and you will in fact be late. If you really are late, relax. You can't make the traffic disappear and if you could have found your keys faster, you would have. Check your five senses, take some deep breaths and/or go through your "to do" list so you can hit the ground running when you do eventually get to work. And, most of all, give yourself a break.
