Abolishing the SAT- sometimes, believe it or not, there is a reason for a system.
Don't get me wrong, I am not on any level saying that the system is not flawed, but the SAT's exist for a reason.

SAT account for what a student has learned over the years- his or her ability to retain information, process it, and evaluate it. It is an important part in the selection process of any college or university, and that's the key. It's a selection. To have a college, perhaps you don't need to take the SAT. There are certain colleges out there who do that. But for others, you need to take an SAT. The SAT's are a way to make sure colleges and universities have a standard to pick from in high schools, as not all grading processes are equal. In one school, an "A" may equate to a "B-" in another with the same student and same work. Also take into account favoritism and dislike of teachers, whether based on any concrete reason or not. They should not, and do not, determine whether you can graduate on to higher education, but where. The SAT's are only a part of the process that separate the cream of the academic crop not to lower others, but to allow those at the top to benefit from being around each other. The SAT's help create a community of academic thirst and general brilliance. They are not the only deciding factor, but help a lot in the selection process for a particular college. Not only can the college look at grades (which are highly subjective), but also a standard by which everyone else in the country is measured.

Perhaps SAT's are concentrated on a bit too much in the application and acception process, but they are a necessary part of the school system we have here today.
