The best form of birth control is the only one guaranteed to work. My vote for best birth control method is a loving marriage relationship. That means abstinence until after the marriage and the maintenance of the marriage relationship after the ceremony.

Abstinence is the only 100% effective means of birth control. And among other benefits of abstinence, the practice of it has a way of weeding out weaker choices for mates. A person who chooses to marry someone who practices abstinence is likely to make that choice because a deeper sense of personal love and commitment than otherwise. Those kinds of relationship have a much better chance of succeeding for a lifetime.

Just abstaining from sex prior to marriage does not always mean that a couple is ready to have children. Marriage, even between people lovingly committed to one another, still takes work. Communication on more than superficial levels. Honoring the other person for who they are instead of who you want them to be. Discovering the paradox that in sacrificial service one finds satisfaction. Having a priority of having a loving marriage relationship even above having a child makes a wonderful place to bring a child into. A couple may choose to practice a variety of medical ways to limit conception until they are ready to have children. However, it should be understood that it is the marriage relationship that drives the choices instead of the other way around.

Abstinence prior to marriage coupled with loving choices about child bearing after marriage have terrific benefits. Better health due to limited exposure to STDs among other things. The increased sense of personal integrity. The peace of mind that comes from not wondering if a former lover will one day surface to embarrass or harass you. The strength of a social network - spouse, extended family and community - where the arrival of a child is a joy and blessing instead of a dread. A stronger educational and economic standing because births do not lead to drop outs which lead to poor situations for parents, children and often, grandparents. A better circumstance for the child comes into the world in a more stable and nurturing environment.

Other forms of birth control could lend to some of these benefits, only abstinence and a healthy marriage relationship guarantees them. The best form of birth control is the only one guaranteed to work.
