Things we want...
The things we want are never the things we need or the things that would satisfy us the most. Needing, wanting, and having are all just states of discovery for those that are willing to fight for what they desire. Why do we look upon desire and passion as evil devices bent on taking us off course of finding one's reason for living? Our desires and passions are the internal devices that drive us from an evolutionary force for survival given to us by our grandfather's grandfathers. I do not regret the desires in my soul.
To have, to keep, to hold, to make the wonders of life play at the fingertips. Allowing my visions and thoughts to run wild through my mind like a herd of horses, thundering across the land, tearing through the plains with a cloud of dust following on the wind, and gone as if becoming one again with the world. With out that vision of power I would never have become the person, man, being I am today. I feel it is the way we should all live, free and unencumbered by fear of failing. By demanding to have the most out of living and not letting ourselves live in trepidation, embarrassment, and the enduring shunning of enlightenment can you finally be free to define life in what ever manner YOU see fit.
Many however would rather continue to ignore the greatness they hold within. Comforting affirmations of life's cruel intentions and "Gods will be done" provides all the evidence they need to maintain their desire for self imposed sedentary incarceration. If this is you, and we have all played this game, when you are alone in your own protective circle, warm and under the covers, what lies do you tell to help you fall asleep at night. Tomorrow is a better day or maybe the next? It is just too hard, just too much, just fill in the blank with your own demons that hold you against the wall of inaction to not a make a choice.
I am not the perfect person, never have been, and nobody really is. I wish the path I was on were different from moment to moment. However, I am proud to say that I have at least walked the mile in my own shoes and the other's shoes once removed. The 'other' is the person who was I, as challenging as it was, I am stronger for being him anymore. I was living in stasis, skills not to be seen. That was an easy way to be, but not easy to look back at now. Time lost, years forgotten, while I was sleeping away some of the best years. Nevertheless, it grounds me to strive and not be that man ever again. I will never be THAT person again.
