O.J. Simpson will most likely go to jail or at least get a penalty, maybe not for "armed" robbery if they cannot prove he had a weapon, but at least for robbery.
Reasons:
1. Ample evidence. The entire event was recorded. He was loud, demanding and made it clear he didn't plan on leaving without the merchandise whether or not the "owners" wanted to give it to him.
2. Just because someone believes something is stolen does not mean the law allows a person to "steal it back." If something was missing, he should have reported it to the police.
3. There are other reasons the merchandise could have left that are not related to the current "owners". Mr. Simpson's former wife, children or anyone that frequented his home could have given the items away without his knowledge or sold them without his permission or maybe Simpson sold or gave them away and forgot about it.
4. The "owners" may have actually come by the merchandise legally and may be in possession of a receipt. Celebrities should not be allowed to "just say something is theirs" and then take it. There are tons of people who collect celebrity items and pay hard-earned dollars for them, never dreaming of being assaulted or abused by a celebrity.
5. Mr. Simpson becoming his own personal private eye in this instance and tracking these people down and the violent interchange blur the lines between Hollywood and reality are a bit much. If Mr. Simpson wanted to audition, he should have contacted his agent. If he wanted to report a crime, he should have contacted the police. If he was a little too nutty to know the difference, he should have contacted his therapist.
It's too late now though and I'm sure he's contacted his lawyer.
