All across the globe people are talking about drug and gambling addictions, and the devastating effect they have on peoples lives. As awful as they are, there is another, more serious addiction, which the media fails to mention. Silent, but deadly, this addiction is ruining peoples lives at this very moment. We need to put a stop to TV series' addiction.
It all begins when you put disc one into your DVD player and select "play all". Doing so is like boarding a one way train to addicts-ville. You think you are just going to watch a couple of episodes, but as another episode begins as soon as the previous one finishes, you tell yourself "Well its already started, i might as well watch it." You end up watching the whole disc in one go, and by the time it has finished you are thoroughly hooked on the show. "I'll just watch one more episode..." you tell yourself as you insert the second disc, but its that kind of thinking that leads you down the path to destruction. Pretty soon you can't stop, and find yourself craving watching the show. You spend every free minute in front of the tv, and even blow off commitments in order to watch more. You have become an addict.
"Oh well," you tell yourself "soon i will have finished the season, and will have no choice but to break the habit." But you can't do it, and you find yourself buying the next series of the show, and devouring that. Eventually you run out of series', and find that you feel empty. That is until you discover a series of a new show, which can fill the gaping hole inside you. And so you continue on watching every series you can find, unable to control yourself.
The consequences of a TV series addiction are severe. You neglect your friendships, not attending social functions in order to stay home and watch more episodes of your series. After a while nobody bothers to invite you anymore, no longer you their friend. You family abandons you, after getting fed up with you constantly watching. Your addiction everyone around you, driving them away, and leaving you all alone. You never go out anymore, you don't exercise, or eat well, or get enough sleep. Not only are you completely unhealthy, but you start neglecting your studies, and skipping classes, or stop showing up to work. This leads to you getting fired. With no money, and nobody to turn to you are out on the streets, stealing series' to feed your addiction, and portable dvd players to watch them on. Eventually you get caught, and wind up in prison.
Having a TV series' addiction ruins your life, and hurts everybody around you. So don't become a TV series junkie, say no to TV on DVD.
