Growing up can be a painful thing
With all the heartaches it can bring
Things that once didn't concern you at all
Now loom toward you, growing ever so tall
To be forced to grow up before you feel it is right,
is enough to fill even the best of us with fright
And just when you think things might turn out okay,
you find out a baby's on it's way
Shock, Guilt, Fear, they all come tearing down on you
Oh my God, what are you gong to do
Depression sets in and you cry thru every night
Then you resign yourself to it and set out to get things right
And as you begin to prepare for this new part of you
you begin to get excited as all new mothers do
your shopping sprees take a different turn
buy that baby book, there's so much to learn
look at that car seat, which crib should I choose
oh isn't this cute, look at those tiny shoes
A few days later you begin to feel aches and pain
Just going to the bathroom becomes a strain
Getting up, going to work, everything is harder for you
You begin to resent it as all new mothers do
Don't do this, don't eat that, you might hurt the baby
You need to grow up and act like a lady
You can't think of yourself anymore
Think of this new life, open new doors
What right has this thing got to thrust itself on you
Hey listen world, I still have feelings too
OH the things that being pregnant demand
God help me, doesn't anybody understand
The turmoil that's going on inside of me
They've been thru it before, why can't they see
But wait....let's hear the rest of the story
It's delivery day and you're all wrapped in glory
And in the days that follow,
when life might have been hollow
You'll have the love of this dear child
And life will once again be mild
When problems arise with your other half,
this sweet child will teach you to laugh
You'll find yourself crying tears of joy
as you thank God for this girl or boy
who came along when you were weak,
And brought your life to it's highest peak
When you're hurt or sad or just feeling down
this little person will bring you around
When your husband gets ornery as husband's do get
This one will by your side, you can bet
When you need to be loved and can't get it out of the Big lug
here's one little fellow that will always be ready with a hug
When you feel everyone is down on all that you do
here's one person that won't turn their back on you
When your problems seem unbearly huge
This little person will be your refuge
When you think you're at your ropes length
You'll find an amazingly newfound strength
You'll find you're capable of so much more
than you ever thought you were before
You'll discover you have so much more to give
You'll have more in life for which to live
So although life may now seem a little hum drum
Hang in there Mom,
the best thing in your life is about to come
