How scented aromatherapy oils can be helpful to your health

In today's world of costly, synthetic medical solutions to all of life's problems, there is a simple way to use the natural world to benefit the health of both our minds and bodies .These days people are handed out pills like candy, but there is a much easier and more pure way of easing stressful problems and relaxing, one that has been around for thousands of years: aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy is proof that solutions don't have to be complicated to be effective. Simply getting a massage, taking a bath, burning oil or candles, or even diffusing the scent throughout the room in a wall plug-in helps improve mental and physical health. Problems like anxiety, stress, depression, headaches, soreness, cold and flu, skin care, and even arthritis can be helped with the use of aromatherapy oils.
This method of healing has been used for thousands of years and was first discovered by the Egyptians and Chinese and later used by the Greeks and Romans as well. The popularity of oils and spices for cosmetics and medicine in Roman times lead them to establish trade routes in order to get exotic aromatics from the far east. These civilizations may not have been as technologically advances as ours, but they knew of an amazing way to improve their wellbeing.
The way that aromatherapy works is this: oils are extracted from different parts of the plant, depending on what it is, using a complicated process that requires large amounts of plants to make even a small amount of oil. However, only a very small amount of oil is needed to be effective. Pure oils are diluted with a base oil for massages because the pure extract is too strong to be put directly on the skin. When we breathe in the oils, the smell triggers cells in the limbic center of our brain, which is associated with memory, breathing, and blood circulation. Different oils have different effects on people and they can also be combined to enhance certain properties. When you use them in massages, the oils are also absorbed into your skin and work their way into the organ systems of your body. It takes between 20 minutes and 2 hours for them to be absorbed so you should not bathe too quickly after an aromatherapy massage.
Different aromatherapy products can be found all over at bath and cosmetics stores and are quite inexpensive. Massage oils are most common but bath products, burning oils, candles, and even facial and skin care products can be very useful. Synthetic oils tend to be cheaper but natural ones are the most effective.
