My ten year reunion was not what I dreamed it would be. I moved from California to Colorado after high school. I went on to get a job for a year, then I met this gorgeous blond with blue eyes, Got married, had two children, got a divorce six years later, and went on with life. I was notified of my ten year reunion, and started making plans to go see all of my old friends. I hated leaving Calif., and all my friends. That was my whole teen age life. The best part of my life. I took a week off, and my sister kept my kids. Off I went to recapture the year's of my youth. A man I had stayed in contact with all those years, was my date for the dinner, and dance. But I'll be truthful with you, after ten years, no one was the same. we had all grown up, and had families. We went in different directions, and the good old days of our youth were gone. Some of my classmates I didn't even recognize. Some of the boys in my class, including our senior class president, had been killed in Vietnam. Thats the last thing I wanted to hear. A good friend of mine in school, was at the reunion, but she had terminal cancer, and passed away three months after the reunion, leaving a husband, and two small children. So my fantasy youth reunion turned out to be something I could have done without. One lesson I learned was that you can't go back. Maybe if I had stayed in Calif. the changes would have been gradual, but after ten years, a lot had happened. I haven't been back since. My name was in the Selma Calif. paper this year trying to locate me for the 45th reunion, my cousin told my brother, but I just can't go that far back into the past anymore. The tenth year reunion made me see that my youth was over, and it was time to move on.
